OUR story

A Heritage Reimagined

The Salwey Arms was restored to highlight its rustic character, with wooden beams, log fires, and cozy dining rooms, while offering modern comfort, great food, and boutique accommodation. Today it stands as a stylish country pub that blends heritage charm with contemporary hospitality.

We’re Jack and Ben, the proud proprietors of The Salwey Arms, taking over in March 2025. We’re excited to build on the inn’s rich heritage while bringing our own fresh energy and ideas. Our goal is to make The Salwey Arms a welcoming hub for locals and travelers alike, a place to relax, dine, and feel at home in the heart of the countryside.

Our History

18th century coaching in to 21st century hotel

The Salwey Arms has its roots in the proud tradition of English coaching inns, which once played a vital role along the historic travel routes of the Welsh Marches. Situated on a key route between market towns and border crossings, the inn provided a welcome resting place for travellers, coachmen, and merchants making long journeys through the countryside. Horses would be changed, journeys paused, and stories shared as guests found food, warmth, and shelter within its walls.
